FACE Mental Illness

The Honourable Michael Wilson, an Officer of the Order of Canada, is Chairman of UBS Canada.

Previously, Mr. Wilson was Chairman of UBS Global Asset Management (Canada) Co., one of Canada’s largest managers of pension fund and other institutional investments.

Prior to July 2000, Mr. Wilson was Vice-Chairman & Director of RBC Dominion Securities Inc., and held federal Cabinet posts in Finance; Industry, Science and Technology; and International Trade.

Mr. Wilson’s activities in the field of mental illness cover a number of organizations. He was Chairman of the Mental Health Implementation Taskforce for Toronto and Peel, an initiative of the Government of Ontario to seek recommendations from the private sector on the implementation of mental health policy in the province. Prior to this, he was active with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, acting as Chairman of its $10 million fundraising campaign, which exceeded its target by $1.5 million.

He is also Chairman of the NeuroScience Canada Partnership and Senior Chairman of the Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health. He has spoken on many occasions on the topic on mental illness, including the impact of stigma as well as the burden of mental illness in the workplace.
